DPF diagnostics and repair at Lara AutoCentre
A diesel particulate filter warning can return if the underlying cause has not been addressed. Lara AutoCentre investigates DPF-related faults and explains suitable repair options for the vehicle and its condition.

When to contact us
- A DPF or engine warning light
- Repeated regeneration concerns
- Reduced performance or limp mode
- A recurring fault after previous DPF attention
How we assess the problem
We review the driving symptoms and previous work, inspect relevant fault information and assess the filter system and related components. Pressure, temperature and other supporting information may help identify why the system is not operating as intended.
What the work may involve
The next step may involve repairing a related sensor or system fault, assessing whether an appropriate cleaning or regeneration procedure is suitable, or discussing filter replacement. Suitability depends on the diagnosis and condition; no cleaning or regeneration outcome is guaranteed in advance.
A DPF warning does not automatically mean the filter itself must be replaced. Equally, repeatedly clearing a fault code does not confirm the cause has been repaired. Contact us with the registration and warning details so we can arrange the appropriate assessment.
Can you quote before inspecting the vehicle?
We can explain the assessment process and discuss known work, but a reliable repair quote depends on the cause of the fault and the condition of the filter and related systems.

DPF warning: finding the underlying fault
In this documented diagnosis, the requested DPF clean was not the solution: investigation found a turbo oil leak contributing to excessive soot. Watch why the cause matters before choosing a repair.

DPF, Turbo & EGR Diagnosis and Repair
DPF warnings and boost or EGR faults often share underlying causes. We diagnose pressures, temperatures, airflow and engine condition before choosing a repair.

Why correct diagnosis and procedure matter
A loaded DPF may be the result of failed regeneration, short journeys, sensor faults, air leaks, injector problems, EGR faults or turbo issues. Forced regeneration without proving the cause can be unsafe or short-lived.
We investigate diesel particulate filter, exhaust-pressure, temperature, EGR and turbo-control faults on cars and light commercial vehicles.
We confirm the symptoms and relevant test results so the quote reflects the vehicle rather than a generic parts list.
We explain what is included and agree any change in scope before additional work is carried out.
Symptoms and situations we investigate
- DPF or engine warning lights and restricted performance
- Frequent regeneration, high idle or cooling fans running
- Smoke, boost loss, whistle or increased oil consumption
- A regeneration or cleaning that did not solve the recurring fault
Repeatedly clearing codes or forcing regeneration can hide a fault and risk thermal damage. Oil dilution and turbo or engine problems must be considered.
What the work can include
- Read soot/ash estimates, pressures, temperatures and regeneration history
- Test sensors, pipework, airflow, EGR and boost control as required
- Check engine faults that could create excess soot or prevent regeneration
- Explain whether repair, approved cleaning, regeneration or replacement is suitable
Time, pricing and warranty
Initial diagnosis is usually staged. Additional testing or DPF removal is agreed only when the first evidence supports it.
Costs depend on diagnostic time and the proven remedy. We separate testing from cleaning or parts so you can see what is being authorised.
Repairs are covered for 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. An optional three-year warranty is available; terms and conditions apply.
